Our Mission
IPE is a statewide, voluntary membership association of independent teachers.  Founded in 1976, IPE is committed to the principle that public school teachers are professionals and should have the right to choose their professional affiliations.

  IPE Principles
IPE has been serving members for more than a quarter of a century and has lead the effort for first-in-the-nation protections for public school teachers from forced unionism.

What sets IPE apart from other teacher organizations?

Its priority is children, providing them with the best possible, uninterrupted education.

Members are treated as professionals.  IPE encourages the achievement of positive results in classrooms and schools without resorting to militant or adversarial techniques.

It is opposed to compulsory unionism, including all forms of forced membership, forced dues and fees, and extorted political contributions.

It supports local teacher groups by encouraging the growth of other independent teacher associations at the local level to represent members.

It doesn't get involved in election campaigns or use member dues to fund political causes or candidates.

Dues are very reasonable and directly related to the actual costs of the benefits and services provided to members.
